Welcome
A number of UK shooting and countryside management organisations have come together to commission new research into the economic, environmental and social value of shooting in the UK. BASC is the lead partner for the project, representing all project partners and supporters.
Project partners – Partner organisation logos – BASC, BGA, BSSC, CA, CLA, GFA, GoP, GTA, MA, NGO, SACS, SL&E, SCSTG, UKPSA
Project supporters – Association of Professional Shooting Instructors (APSI), British Deer Society (BDS), Clay Pigeon Shooting Association (CPSA), Fifty Calibre Shooting Association (FCSA), Historic Breechloading Smallarms Association (HBSA), National Rifle Association (NRA), National Smallbore Rifle Association (NSRA), Preparatory Schools’ Rifle Association (PSRA), Vintage Arms Association (VAA)
The aim of the Value of Shooting research is to obtain independent and robust facts and figures that underpin the importance of shooting in the UK. Findings of the survey will be incorporated into a final report – the Value of Shooting Report – which will be a significant update and expansion of a previous report produced by PACEC and published in 2014. The new research is being undertaken by a consortium led by the University of Northampton. This is a detailed study which is being run in stages. In the first stage, partner and supporter organisations will invite their members to complete the survey by email. Invitations will go to those members in the UK who:
· Have provided an email address to their membership organisation.
· Have not opted out of receiving surveys.
· Are over 16-years-old.
In the second stage of the research, a survey link will be made available for the wider shooting community to take part in the study. This will mean that members of the
organisations who have not provided an email address or have opted out of receiving survey communications, and those who are not members of any of the organisations, can take part.
We are currently in the first stage of the research, meaning that the survey is not yet open to the wider shooting community as emails are first being sent to members. Please check back after 27th September 2021 if you:
· Are a member of one or more of the organsiations but have not received a survey invitation by 27th Setptember, or:
· Are not a member of any of the organisations and are interested in taking part in the research.
